About SAASTEC
What is SAASTEC?
SAASTEC is a Non-Profit Organization and umbrella body for Science Centres, Museums, independent organizations, public organizations, and volunteers dedicated to promoting interactive Science, Technology, Mathematics, Engineering, and Innovation across the Southern African region.
SAASTEC was founded in 1996, by different Science Centres in South Africa as a platform to foster relationship and cooperation between existing science centres, museums and other organisations aligned to SAASTEC goals, with the aim of benefiting from available resources and experiences within the region to further improve the role of all members. The organisation was officially registered as a Non-profit organisation in 2008.
The SAASTEC conference
The SAASTEC conference is an annual event, where science centres and science engagement practitioners come together to reflect on and discuss challenges and solutions in the space they operate in. The platform is aimed at building a network to improve science & technology literacy and education across the Southern African Countries and the rest of the continent.
